Annual Spring Photo Contest

ProPhoto Lab

Part of what makes our Cashman ProPhoto Lab great is its connection with the local photography community. Our lab’s management team of Larry Hook and Jim Hanlon make a pointed effort to not only print great local photography, but showcase it.

This is why Cashman ProPhoto Lab is gearing up for its third annual spring photo contest.

Each year Larry and Jimmy throw open their doors and welcome area photographers for a gallery night where our guests can not only view some of the best photography in the Las Vegas valley, but also learn a little about what is new in the world of photography.

Once again, the contest is scheduled to coincide with WPPI, the wedding and portrait photographers’ convention at the MGM Grand. In doing so we are able to bring in some of our vendor/partners to kick the tires on some of the newest equipment, print products and services in the photography industry.

Each year we add a twist. Last spring we added a student division along with a cell phone category. In the past we have also singled out photoshopped or enhanced imagery versus “out-of-camera” photography.

This year is no different. While we are again having general and student divisions along with Landscape, portrait and Open categories, we are adding new ways to win.

The general public, yes everyone, will be able to vote online for their favorite images. Then we are bringing in a panel of accomplished local photographers to determine their top shots in each category. Finally, on the big night, everyone attending our event will have a vote and determine who they think are the master photographers of the evening.

The evening is special because it brings photographers of all levels. Professional photographers mingle with camera enthusiasts and budding student shooters, discussing when, where and how some of the favorite images were captured.

Of course, everybody walks away with something. We have a business card raffle, vendor giveaways and prizes for our winners.

Entries will be accepted beginning January 19 with the gallery showing scheduled for March 3.
